Welcome back to the classic Warriors, in a territory long forgotten. The dusty forests of ThunderClan, breezy moors of WindClan, dark swamps of ShadowClan and quiet streams of RiverClan are still here, and so are the familiar clans within them. Outside the forest territory lies the world of Rogues, a ragged band of cats who stick together simply because they don't belong anywhere else. Join in on a life of betrayal, friendships and adventures not so different from the one you know.

So of course, first on the list is advertising. I swear, I'll stop bugging everyone about this once we get 30 members or have at least 20 active in the past 24 hours. Anyways, MotM is up, we need votes! I understand that new members can't really vote, and that's fine, but old members? Please. Chapter 1 of the plot will hopefully get started over the weekend, so check back on the plot thread about that, especially because positions needed for Chapter 2 will be released. Ryuu had the brilliant idea to add the recent events in the IC world. Things like kits being born, cats dying, switching clans, or cats moving up ranks. Basically the things that would be announced at a Gathering, but the gathering thread only lasts for a few days, and it's nice to be able to see the information 24/7. Not to mention, leaders can't keep track of every single thing that happens in the forest. So if something event-worthy happens to your cat, PM a staff member about it and we'll add it to the list of things on the header. [Ryuu, I'm not sure if this is exactly what you meant, but you can PM me about that too if you want me to change something about it.] I'm also adding the three other OTM's. I'll gather nominations for cats and threads from the leaders today, as well as start the Quote of the Moon nominations threads [Members nominate the quote.] Sorry that this was so long, thanks for sticking with me ;P

 The Last Star
« Thread Started on Nov 5, 2009, 2:38pm »

Please, protect my brother
She almost screamed it to the stars, hoping they could hear her cries. She had not seen him since he was made a warrior, what had happened in that time? For all she knew he could be a father, this idea struck her as odd, she just could not think of Snowflake as a father. But, then it had been a long time, a very long time. She lowered her beautiful head, the truth causing more pain than she could bare. The rogue camp was silent, apart from the breathing. She hated it here, Rayne, with her stupid clan ways and her pretty face luring toms in. She shuddered, it was more than that, she hated it because of what she had seen, kits running around, mothers watching on. It hurt to much to watch what she had never had.

She glanced inscintivly towards the medicine cat den, or the healers den, she hoped phoenix was sleeping soundly, she had turned down the offer of the warriors den and was sleeping in the medicine cat den. She found Cedar was not as bad as she had thought, she was still so worried about her precious leader, but she had treated Dove's leg well. She twitched the leg in annoyance, it seemed it was more than just dislocated, it had torn a muscle. It was alright, but it would be another few weeks before it was as good as new.

She looked to the stars again and let out a small sob

"Everything is wrong"

"Oh, I wouldn't say that. Many things... But not everything."
The tom meowed, voice breaking the silence as he padded lightly over to the she-cat. The last time they'd had an actual conversation, he'd ended up leaving due to his own confusion at her strange and flirtatious approach. Now, however, he was sound of mind. Somehow, over the passage of moons, he'd reconciled with himself, and in talking with different cats he'd met, he felt at ease with his past. He hadn't forgotten it, nor had he forgiven his birth clan. And though his grudge still lingered, he was determined not to let it get in the way of his life. He was going to keep moving forward, and he smiled grimly at Dove as he sat down beside her.
"S'all right if I sit here?"
He asked, flicking one ear at her as blue eyes glowed faintly under the stars. The camp was quiet for once in a long time, and he savored the peaceful, serene night air. Perhaps he could come to enjoy it. Of course, he doubted that was possible with Jack and Minx hanging around, but for now, it was enough.
Glancing upward, his gaze softened slightly. He wasn't sure whether he still believed in Starclan or not, but somehow he felt that he could neither bring himself to hate or love them. They'd allowed him to be torn from his family, and had done nothing to protect him or his sister. Yet, they'd led him far enough that he could make ammends with his own conscience for leaving his sister behind. Was he supposed to believe that they were watching over him?
I don't believe in fate.
He thought faintly, lowering his gaze and glancing back over at the silvery white she-cat. Under the moon, she seemed to give off a ghostly glow, and he had a nagging feeling that there was something weighing heavy on her mind.

"sure" she replyed quietly, she was unsure of what to say, she was very surprised that he was talking to her, he really did not like her.
"I am asking starclan to protect my brother" she said it before she thought about it. She mentally cursed, why had she said that? She wondered briefly if he even knew what starclan was, most rogues did not, but then some of them did. She might have to tell him her past, but then, would that be such a bad thing? She had kept quiet for years, pretending to be a born rogue. If anyone saw Snowflake though they would know he was her brother. They had the same blue eyes, the same strong shoulder muscles, the same height. He was as handsome as she was beautiful.
She looked back at him, what was he thinking?

Her words startled him, and he jolted forward, staring at her wide-eyed in surprise.
Starclan.... Then maybe she was once a warrior...
A mixture of relief and shock washed over him at once, and he was unable to push it away. Blinking, he settled back down, glancing up at the sky. He wasn't sure why, of all choices, he'd chosen to run away. If he'd been braver, if he'd stopped to think about his sister's feelings, then he would've confronted his clan-mates rather than letting his own feelings chase him away.
"My sister... She's up there with them, I think..."
His voice was soft, and a distant look had shrouded the tom's blue eyes. Thoughts and memories; even if he'd never had a conversation with Rosekit, she always seemed to understand what he was saying.
"I'll protect you, because that's what siblings do!"
He'd said that once; seasons ago. It lay embedded in his memory like a thorn. With it came a stinging pain, yet he was too afraid to pull it out, because then it would start bleeding. Lowering his gaze, he stared at his paws for several moments, and he wondered if Dove had once belonged to the clans.
No, not 'belonged'. You belong to no one but yourself.
Looking up, he blinked and glanced at the she-cat from the corner of his eye.
"You know... They don't always listen... Starclan... But I think... Sometimes, that they might try, even if there's nothing they can do..."
He trailed off, not completely sure what he was saying. He wasn't defending them; that was beyond his own morales. He wouldn't forgive them for taking his sister, for cursing her when she was born. If she'd had her hearing, if she'd been able to hear her death coming, maybe she could've lived.
But she wouldn't have wanted that... She wouldn't run away, like me.
"So your brother... What's he like?"
He meowed, gaze fading as he stared off forlornly, unable to keep track of his thoughts.

She looked at him as he jerked foreward, the surprise on his face made her think he did know about the clans, and starclan. her thoughts her confirmed when he spoke, His sister, interesting.
She nodded at his next words, and ponered his final words for a moment beofre saying.

"I think starclan can hear every cat, no metter what they are, but yes, they can not control everything. They watch and send signs, but death is something they can not conquer. Those were the teaching i was brought up with.I still stick by them.

My brother, his name is Snowflake, he lives in thunderclan, that is where i used to. He... he is wonderful, everything you could want in a brother, not as loud as me, but strong and very protective. He looks a lot like me, though his fur is white, like my fathers was. I... I miss him more than anything. I hate the rogues, not becuase of who they are but becuase rogues are supposed to have to fight for their food, sleep beneath the stars, fight for their lives, not live like this, in this clan! Its all wrong!
SHe spat the last words out. glad o have got it off her back she looked at him.

The tom listened quietly, watching the she-cat as she narrated her story. As he suspected, she had come from a clan.
Thunderclan? I wonder.... We're about the same age; was she an apprentice while I was in Riverclan?
This thought crossed over his mind as he heard her out, and he felt memories wash over him as she described her brother. He recalled the time Rosekit had fallen into a hole and hurt her paw, and the day she'd wandered away from camp and gotten lost. He'd been filled with panic at the thought of losing her, and he and the rest of the clan had searched for her frantically. At the time, he couldn't help but envy his loved sister. The entire clan was willing to chase after her, yet not him. Still, he was happy that she'd been treasured, and even if their father had never looked at them, he had told himself that as long as Rosekit didn't know, then she couldn't be unhappy.
He blinked in slight surprise as she described her hate for the Rouges, and a sudden understanding washed over him. The she-cat hadn't wanted to leave her clan. Even if she was speaking of despising cats who stuck in a group, there was pain in her eyes, and he knew that it was only because she hated going back to whatever memories haunted her.
"So if you hate the Rouges so much... Why did you leave your clan and your brother? Even I'm not so blind that I can't tell they still linger in your mind."
He meowed, eyes narrowing as he stared at the she-cat, waiting for an answer that he knew might not come out so easily.

She knew his question was coming, so when it did she as not surprised. She opened her mouth, paused then continued with what she was going to say, staring to the stars.

I was born in thuderclan with my brother, we were very close as kits and that never went away. We would always back each other up, anyway when we became aprentices we were so happy. We were still close, but somthing changed, suddenly we were older more mature. Their was this aprentice in the clan, flowerpaw, she had a crush on Snowflake. It did not owrry us at first, lots of toms had a crush in me, no one messed with us, we could be very intimidating when we needed to be. But the crush developed into an obbsession. She openly hated me, becuase i was more important to him than her, because i was, in her opinion, the only thing in between her and him. So she had to get rid of me.

She was clever, very clever, she was quite pretty and at a gathering managed to talk a windclan tom into lying for her. This was near the end of our aprenticeship, she told the leader that i was seeing a windclan tom, the tom told them that we were. My leader told me that i would be thrown from the clan unless i stopped seeing him. When Flowerpaw realised that was not enough she got a riverclan tom to lie for her as well. The leader was furious, i knew this meant i would be banished from the clan, so i ran away.
The riverclan and Windclan toms did not get banished, they were severly warned and told off. Flowerstep thought she had what she wanted, Snowflake would never look at her.

The tom was quiet as he listened, and he tried to picture himself as a Thunderclan cat. This Snowflake sounded a lot like Rosepaw. Both were white cats with blue eyes, though Rosepaw had been thin and sickly ever since birth. Sighing, he was about to speak when her words caught his attention.
Exile? So she left too... But only out of the fear that she would be banished. Me, I left because I couldn't handle it. Because I wasn't strong enough to stay, I left so that maybe I could find the strength to go back and repent for my sins...
"But you..."
Not even realizing he had started speaking his thoughts aloud, the tom stared at her, and for what seemed like seasons yet was only a matter of seconds, he thought he saw the mother he'd never had. Sitting in front of him, beside Dove. Maybe his eyes were playing tricks on him, but he knew he could see her. Her fur; silver with black ear tips, tail ringed with white. Blue eyes. Did he look like her? He couldn't remember the last time he'd looked at his own reflection. Maybe he'd been too scared of seeing the cat that had run away, his weaker self that had caved in.
So then why was the she-cat smiling? She didn't know him, he didn't know her. Yet somehow, he felt she was his mother. Her eyes glowed like the rivers in Green-leaf, back when he had taught himself how to hunt when his mentor had refused. Why was she happy? He and his sister were the ones who had killed her. She'd died giving birth to them; what right did he have to see her smile?
"Forget, son... Forget..."
Her voice was chilling, ghostly, and he shuddered as he recognized the similarity it held to the voice he always heard in his dreams. Was it her who'd been visiting him? He wasn't sure, but suddenly she was fading away, and while his mind screamed at him to follow her, his legs wouldn't budge.
Blinking, the tom snapped back into the real world, and he found himself staring at Dove, mouth open as if he were about to say something. Startled, he looked away, embarrassed and confused at the same time.
"And you haven't seen your brother since?"
He meowed in a softer voice, silver fur a ripple against the dusty background.

She watched him, his silver face lost in haunted memouries of the past. She knew what it was like, his eyes were forgotten portals to a past no one knew of. For a moment she was captured by the expressions that played acroos his face. She could only watch as he dragged himself back to reality. She offered a smile, she knew all to well what it was like to be trapped in the past.

Once, at his warriors ceremony"

Her voice was laden with pain which made her sound older than her 30 moons. she was still considered a young cat, but sometimes, her voice, her words, the spoke of an older cat who had seen to much in her life. And she had, she had watched the moons run past with nothing to live for. Nothing but the faint flickers of a life she could have lived had she not been a coward.
Because thats all she was, a coward, she had not even faced her leader and been banished, she had run away and hid. She could not bare to be near the rogue camp because the familiarity hurt, she was weak and cowardly.
"Cowardly" she heard the words in the distance and it took a moment to realise the word had escpaed her lips. In an attempt to cover her words she asked
"You?"
To anyone else listening her voice would sound bitter and angry, but it was reflecting her earlier thoughts and had nothing to do with the tom next to her.

Looking up, he stared at her for a moment before sighing. He didn't like lingering in the past; all that awaited him was a border of tension and anxiety. There were things he wasn't ready to talk about with others. He was already saying more to Dove than he'd ever said to Ravensong, and he remembered Katrina, the she-cat he'd met a while back. He'd confided in her when she'd done the same for him, yet he'd never been able to tell the she-cat he loved about his past.
And now I've lost her...
Something dug sharply inside him, clawing at his innards, and he winced visibly, feeling slightly dizzy. He had lost her. He wasn't sure how, but he hadn't seen her in several moons. Hadn't heard anything about her. Hadn't scented her on the Windclan borders or anywhere else. He'd even eavesdropped at a Gathering once, trying to hear any news of her, but there'd been none. She'd vanished from his life as though she'd never been there, and he was feeling the emptiness like the acidic burning of thorns underpaw. He coughed as his throat tightened, and he had to swallow the lump in his throat.
"Me? I can't forgive myself... But you saw your brother... Was he happy?"
How did Rosepaw feel when I left?
A fresh wave of realization swept over him. He'd always known it was his fault, ever since he'd spoken with Cometsnare and learned that Rosepaw had been killed by a fox because he hadn't been there to protect her. He was always the only one who'd stood by her side, even if the whole clan supported her. She was the only one he could talk to, and they were the only ones who ever tried to understand one another. Maybe she wasn't angry at him for letting her die, but for making her feel the pain of loneliness. He had left her, yet had skipped to the end result; her death. Had he ever thought about how she felt during his absence though?
I made her feel exactly like I did... How could I have been so stupid....
His heart quivered, and his eyes narrowed as he stared at the ground, an avalanche of pain and shame crashing down on him.
"Sometimes, it seems like my wrong-doings just keep adding up the more I try to correct them."
He meowed, voice growing suddenly bitter as he looked up swiftly. Eyes burning with a fiery ice, he stared straight at the she-cat, claws digging into the ground.
"That's why, you can't make the same mistake I did. Even if it hurts you, you need to return to your brother. To Thunderclan, or your memories will never stop haunting you. Go to him, or he won't stop hurting."

She understood his pain, she did not mind that he did not want to tell her anything, Dove was an open cat, at least to those she trusted. Oddly she did trust him, she did not know why, but it was there the trust she had not felt in so many years.

"I can't, you don't understand i can't. I saw him and he seemed pround, but sad"

She could not explain the terror that gripped her at the thought of going near thunderclan.

(sorry it is really short i was really busy)

The tom could see the strained terror in her eyes, a fear that he had once known all too well. A fear that in fact, still haunted him. His own inability to return and face the clan who he had run from, the former place he had called home yet had not felt at all comfortable in.
A home is a place where you feel you belong... But that was no home to me.
Still, he didn't want the she-cat to become him. Completely cold in the exterior and gradually freezing within, too, because of unsolved past mistakes. If she left her brother because of her own fears, she would become like him, which was the last thing he wanted.
"I know it scares you... I'm still too frightened to return. And now I'm too late to save the one who was precious to me. So please, don't make the same mistakes that I did."
When he looked up this time, the anger had faded and was instead replaced by a desperate and pitiful look. Never before had Shatter ever asked a cat for anything. He might've wanted them to do something, but he had never requested it aloud. Perhaps it was his pride or the fact that he had never expected anyone to oblige, but now, the look in the tom's eyes was pleading, and all at once he didn't seem to resemble a hardened Rouge who would talk sharply to whoever he met. Instead, he seemed like a kit again; small, helpless, begging.
"I don't know your brother, and even though I haven't known or seen you for very long, I feel like your story is my own from the way you tell it. So don't abandon your brother the way I left my sister. Don't do something you'll come to regret. Don't make them suffer."
His voice was pleading now, drowned in desperation as blue eyes stared with an agonized expression.
Never again... Never again will I leave you... Forgive me...

She blinked, he was in pain, he was telling her to do something. He wanted to help?
Dove took a deep breath
"i...i promised myself i would talk to him, nothing more, nothing less. Just talk. I could never go back, as much i as i love him i could not face that sort of, pain. I like being a loner, its peaceful, Starclan are there, i know it"

She was gazing at the stars in desperation, praying for a sign, something. The fear had wormed its way into her brain, it kept her from even talking, thats why she hid. Under the skin of a heartbreaker a lonely scared she cat emerged. But... when happy she was sarcastic, playfull, normal, if such a thing were possible.
Shatter confused her, he was so... different, so... she could not put it into words. You see Dove was clever, when she trusted someone she did not think they would die for her, or even take a blow for her. She knew how peoples loyalties changed, in the blink of an eye.
