Taking a few steps back until she was standing next to Splashpaw, Silverpaw blinked happily and settled down quitely beside her multicolored brother. Almost instantly she spotted a faint ginger dot racing over the moor, and the she-cat purred with delight when she recognized the pelt of Reedpaw approaching. "There, where all here now," she realized quickly, glancing questionably at the nervous features of Brightsoul, "I wonder what she has in mind?" Tail tip twitching, Silverpaw decided to wait patiently until Reedpaw had joined them.
Unsurprisingly, they didn't take long before the tom-cat had thundered to a stop close to them. Now up close, it was apparent that Reedpaw was going to grow to be a much bigger cat than his litter-mates. "Oh well, I can still beat him in a skirmish any day!" She laughed mentally, amusement flickering in her twinkling gaze as she prepared to greet him as well.
But just as Silverpaw had opened her mouth to yowl a friendly hello, Brightsoul was speaking. Clamping her jaw shut again, the long furred tabby's head snapped back to listen eagerly to her mother, convinced she would speak to Reedpaw sometime soon. "I have something to tell you," Silverpaws furry gray ears twitched at the way the older she-cat stumbled over the words. What could possibly be wrong? Head tipping sideways, she leaned forward, ready to soak up the news like a sponge...whatever it was.
"It's time you know who your father is. his name is Foxtail. he... he's from Riverclan," For a moment the only thing that registered in the young cats mind was the word "father." Breath catching in her chest, Silverpaw felt a shiver of excitement and before she could stop herself words where pouring from her maw, "my father? Really? Wow! I never actually thought about it but- Immediately she stopped herself, the silence echoing eerily around her. Wait...what was the last part Brightsoul had said? Brow furrowing in confusion, Silverpaw backed up a few words. "Foxtail? Riverclan...?" and than she like that her jaw fell back open, yet this time all that came out was a few jumbled words of surprise. "My father...Foxtail...Riverclan?" Now her eyes where growing wider, and her once happily swishing tail had come to a stand still. Naturally she racked her brain, trying to remember if she had ever heard of that name before. But to her disappointment, Silverpaw found she had never heard of the tom. Failing to catch the last of Brightsouls sentences, the she-cats head lowered until she was staring blankly at her paws. She was a half clan cat?

Like darkness, silence enveloped the silver she-cat, her face fixed pointedly on the dusty earth. She didn't get it...why? Why hadn't she just told them before? Skin growing hot with annoying prickles of emotional pain, Silverpaw bit her lip. So badly she wanted to yowl at her mother, voicing her horror and begging her to say it wasn't true. Swallowing dryly, the apprentice glanced up slowly, blinking rapidly at Splashpaws words. There was no anger in his voice, not even a hint of regret. Instead his meow rang boldly and Silverpaw found her eyes meeting his, hoping that he couldn't see the hurt glazed over her vision. How could he be so optimistic? Stomaching lurching, she felt as if she would be sick when she noticed Brightsouls head bowed over. Everything felt like it had been turned upside down, but it was nothing compared to the icy feeling that fell over her when Reedpaw spoke. “Were traitors then… Abominations.”
Almost as if she had been hit by a blow to the head, Silverpaw visibly flinched. But she barely had time to react before her brothers terrible sob reached her ears and he was racing away, leaving the small she-cats heart to plummet. "Reedpaw!" She gasped in alarm, wincing at the strange pitch of her voice. Yet even as she had called out, Reedpaw was bounding away, his form getting smaller and smaller by the second. Jumping to her paws, Silverpaw took a few steps forward, eager to follow after him and comfort her litter mate, when suddenly she realized Brightsoul and Splahspaw where still there. Head twisting nervously to look over her shoulder, Silverpaws tail dropped. "I...I..." she began shakily, but no matter what she could think of nothing to say, eyes growing watery as she took a deep shaky breath. Than without a second thought, she tore her gaze away and launched herself after the quickly retreating Reedpaw.
Though she could barely see him, Silverpaw pushed herself forward, paws throwing up water deprived dust. "R-Reedpaw...wait!" She yowled, the wind brushing fiercely against her pelt. She had to catch up with him...no matter what.

Taking in deep gulps of air, Silverpaw choked back the tears, her adrenaline giving her energy as she flew across the moor on paws as if she had wings. To her dismay, Reedpaw had already vanished over the hill top, his red pelt no longer glimmering in the sun. Legs pumping harder, the she-cat continued to race after him, small paws thudding like thunder against the ground. She knew no matter what, even if her brother had fled Windclan territory, she would follow him. He needed to know he wasn't alone, and that they where both suffering. As for Splashpaw...well she couldn't exactly say.
Just thinking about the conversation brought a fresh wave of pain over her. She remembered clearly when she was a kit, there mother had never said a word about who there father was. So instead, Silverpaw would imagine one. Although she would never have told a soul, she had always imagined him as a handsome Windclan leader, the one who had chosen Fallenstar as deputy. He was kind, patient, and fun. In her mind, he had died bravely in an epic battle against Shadowclan, throwing away his life to protect his clan.
Silverpaw sighed sadly as she remembered her imaginative fathers smiling face. Now all that was crushed...he wasn't real at all. Trying in vain to push the thought to the back of her mind, the long-haired tabby focused back on running, letting out a meow of relief when she noticed that Reedpaw had stopped someways ahead. "Thank Starclan!" She cried happily, not caring if he heard her or not. Pushing off harder with her hind legs, it wasn't long until she had reached the red furred tom cat.
Skidding to a rather clumsy stop, she purred loudly and laid her head on his shoulder as if she where afraid he would run away at any moment. Attempting to hide the damp fur on her face, it seemed to be minutes before she finely pulled away, a nervous smile on her maw. "I was afraid you had gone..." she whispered fearfully, silently praying to her starry ancestors that he would let her talk.

Silverpaw watched, heart wrenching as Reedpaw dropped his head. It almost appeared as if he where carrying a very heavy burden on his shoulders, which honestly, could almost describe the whole situation. Eyes brimming with grief, she listened carefully as her brother spoke. Biting down hard on her lip, Silverpaw didn't want to believe him, she couldn't! But at the same time, perhaps he was right. "No...that's horrible!" She murmured helplessly, fluffy silver tail wrapping tight around her form. If Starclan didn't accept them, then where did they go? Vaguely she recalled elder stories about evil cats going to a forest of darkness after they passed, cats like Tigerstar. "What? No, I'm not evil!" The she-cat thought in horror, the fur along her spine bristling as she thought about walking alone forever. And because what? There father was a Riverclan cat? It wasn't fair!
Suddenly convinced her brother was wrong, she glanced up at him, face set in determination. "No, Starclan will accept us! They have to, we have done nothing wrong!" Silverpaw voiced, before going on, "they cannot turn us away because of who our parents where...I won't...well I won't let them!" Rising to her paws, Silverpaw lifted her head, tail swaying, "we are as good as any cat in Windclan. We where perfectly normal before Brightsoul told us the truth? We'll nothings going to change!"

Smiling cheerfully, Silverpaw nodded in determination, glad that Reedpaw seemed to feel better now. "Yeah!" She voiced in reply, ears pitched forward, "we'll be great warriors, Starclan will have to let us in, no matter who are father was." Throat vibrating in an enthusiastic purr, the she-cat lowered her head and butted her brother playfully in the shoulder. She was so glad she had him, Splashpaw as well. If he had gone...nothing would have been the same. "But now he's here. And together, Reedpaw, Splashpaw and I will make Windclan proud!" Looking up at the tom cat, Silverpaw laughed and cuffed him lightly over the ear, "come on, lets go back and tell Splashpaw," she mewed, and than before Reedpaw could answer she turned and bolted in the direction they had come. "Race you!" Silverpaw called over her shoulder, long silver tail streaming behind her proudly as she ran.
