PHYSCIAL DESCRIPSIONAs they say, "beauty is in the eye of the beholder" and while the old quote may be honest enough, Spiderstar holds little of any beholders beauty. Ugly on the other hand is not a word that sits well in definition. An awkward specimen, he's got more in common with the mid winter tree branches than his species. Bones, bones, and more bones- optimal for a human pet maybe, but as a wild animal it's a less desired trait. He appears to have height on his side, but really this is more of an illusion than anything. In reality his length wins over his stance. Could his mother have had a hidden romantic fetish for snakes? Amusing maybe, but no, Spiderstar is simply just a peculiarly long cat. Many of the ancestors on his father's side have had similar, uniquely spindly figures better suiting the clan on the moors. And yet none were ever as flauntingly irregular as Spiderstar. His tail and matching limbs are equally as thin and extensive, especially the former. It's as if he spontaneously popped a vine out the top of his furry behind. As much as he might perfect a poker-face, he'll never be able to control the emotional antennae at the end of his spine.
Having an artless body isn't enough, so StarClan blessed him with an unforgettable face. His visage is almost canine. It's rather intimidating in a sense. Similar to the image from the neck down, Spiderstar's face is extremely gaunt looking. His skull pushes out against the smoky gray face violently, his large yellow eyes furrowed by a deep brow. Spiderstar has a stretched, wolf-like bridge that ends in a dark fleshy nose. The whole thing is very symmetrical, and somehow despite the moons on his life he's managed to avoid scarring here. His ears haven't fared quite as well, but they're so large it'd be concerning if he didn't have a handful of nicks and scratches. Indeed if the RiverClan leader borrowed his face from the northern wolf, he snatched his crowning ears from a leathery bat. They aren't at all proportioned to the rest of him. At least he gets a positive attribute out of this unnatural looking facial feature. His hearing ability is quite superb.
And of course what is a RiverClan resident without an average coat of gray? No markings nor patterns disturb the deep lake of endless stone gray that is his pelt. His physique may stick out above the crowd, but his fur blends in too well giving him the perfect balance of freaky and mediocre. To no one's astonishment, he does not typically draw in well to the femaleor maleeye. Maintaining neatness is rarely an issue with Spiderstar. His hair is so short it's like cleaning the surface of your kitchen counter tops. With a few swipes of the tongue he's good to go. As you can imagine having such little protection against the elements might leave one a bit colder than the average domestic short hair. He doesn't openly admit it, but secretly Spiderstar has much disdain to the cold seasons for very obvious reasons.
INNER PSYCHAdmirable, unyielding, dauntless, all traits you expect of a leader. Spiderstar is none of these things. He is a quiet, modest character. While his mind is a never ending labyrinth of thought very little of his ideas actually become speech. The passive tom can often be seen watching and inquiring about the world around him. His nature was always a curious one, always thirsty for knowledge and the answers to questions unsolved. At best he is wise- at worst a day dreamer with his abnormally shaped head in the clouds. Even though he receives few, Spiderstar is much too humble to accept compliments whatever their form may be. Copious amounts of positive attention fluster him quickly and he is not keen to become the center of attention any day of the year. His reign as leader of RiverClan has only just begun and already he's decided he will never grow use to having all eyes on him.
Despite his dislike of the center stage it does not have any affect on his willingness to take responsibility. Spiderstar has always harbored a maturity beyond his age even as a nursery kit. Especially as young cats his peers always found him to be terribly boring, never understanding his aversion to their daily shenanigans. Spiderstar (then Spiderkit or Spiderpaw) struggled to find entertainment in the mundane life of a kitten. Even the warriors found his serious disposition off-putting. He was quite sharp and quick to catch on to almost anything worth learning, but for all his intelligence he could never shake his social awkwardness. Do not mistake his inability to make heads and tails of his own emotions and those of others as shyness. He is not an overly coy creature, simply he leans in preference to solitude over the wrong company. Discussion is gladly received, gossip and futile babble is much less so. Even so Spiderstar always maintains a polite facade. His intentions are always moral and benevolent... well nearly always. Nobody's perfect after-all.
Spiderstar is a ready martyr, his readiness to sacrifice is both praiseworthy and incredibly stupid. In his determination to provide for others his own self-worth suffers immensely. His image of himself is consistently poor. He is happy to please anyone save his own soul. Deep down in the shady, dusty corners of his consciousness Spidestar knows he detests himself.
